              building erected on the west side of Lee..."

Aug. 31,1937  article on Cotton Avenue's 100th anniversary; "Jud-
              son Rushin, who was bitten by a snake Saturday, was 
              resting well at his home, on Lee street.  Mr. Rush-
              in stepped on a mocasin while fishing on the Lee 
              street road, and was bitten on the left foot.  He 
              was given snake serum at the Prather Clinic, and 
              has been confined at his home since Saturday."

              her death at Houston, Texas last Thursday (Feb. 
              9th).  Mrs. Daniel left Americus five years ago...
              She had made her home at Houston...with her sons,
              Espy and John Daniel.  Mrs. Daniel is survived by
              three sons, Espy and John...and Walter, of Kenosha,
              Wis., and one daughter, Mrs. Pri Ball of Atlanta.
              Mrs. Daniel's husband, who was brother of Mrs. C.F.
              Giddings, of Americus, died several years ago.  Be-
              fore her marriage, she was Miss Lula Espy of Abbe-
              ville, Alabama."

Nov. 27,1939  "Mrs. Ed Purvis, Americus woman, is in serious con-
              dition at the Prather clinic today, suffering in-
              juries received when she was hit by a motorized bi-
              cycle Sunday night at 9:30 o'clock on South Lee 
              street.  Mrs. Purvis received a fractured skull.  
              She was walking down Lee street, near Rushin's 
              store, when she was struck in the back and knocked 
              down by the bicycle, it was said.  The bicycle was 
              being ridden by Jack Pittman, young Americus boy."
Mar. 23,1940  "RUSHIN'S STORE IS ROBBED HERE - A burglar or
              burglars broke into Rushin's Store and Market on South 
              Lee street shortly after midnight and stole between 
              15 and 18 cartons of cigarettes, Olin Rushin said 
              today..."

              was quietly solemnized at 8:30 o'clock Easter mor-
